Making a Difference: A Solution Showcase

What will be showcased?

In collaboration with the Delaware Department of Education, DELTA Program partners created a Healthy Relationships Unit, which is based on the DELTA Developing Healthy Relationships Curriculum for Delaware high schools. The unit culminates in a final project, in which students demonstrate how to take collective action as "courageous bystanders" by advocating for respectful environments where healthy relationships are the norm. Teachers are encouraged to submit exemplary student work to www.safeandrespectful.org for the Solution Showcase. Projects can represent individual student work, or can be a result of students working in small groups, as assigned by the teacher. Projects that best demonstrate a clear understanding of respect and equality, gender stereotyping, media message deconstruction, bystander intervention, or interpersonal abuse will be featured on www.safeandrespectful.org in the Solution Showcase. Showcased projects will include the school, teacher, and student(s) name.

How will my students be recognized?

Teachers will be notified if submitted student projects are selected to be showcased on www.safeandrespectful.org. Each marking period, entries from student projects across the state will be reviewed, and outstanding student projects will be selected to receive a letter of recognition and a gift card to a local retailer. Additionally, a "Delaware Courageous Bystander" of the year will be selected each spring from outstanding student projects, and the winning student(s) will be awarded a grand prize valuing $250.00.

What could disqualify the student projects I submit?

Each submission must follow the Rules and Guidelines for Showcase Entries as provided below. Each student who has authored, created, or appeared in any submission must submit a signed release form, provided below. Instructions for where teachers should send signed consent forms are on the Rules and Guidelines document. Any questions should be directed to safeandrespectful@gmail.com.

How do I submit projects for the Solution Showcase?

To submit student projects that are in video form, click on upload video. For student projects that are in Word or other text formats, click on upload text document. Following the upload of the submission, you will receive a confirmation email. Please note videos must be in .wma, .mpg, or .avi format and are limited to 100MB in size. Text documents can be in .doc, .docx, .rtf, or .txt format.
