Yes, people are worried about immigration policies, border security, and the welfare of the children now in our custody. But simply put (very simply put, we understand) there would be much less immigration influx if people felt safe in their homes, neighborhoods, and countries.
If people don't feel safe, they cannot have safe + respectful relationships with others, or themselves. And they certainly will not be able to become productive members of society.
So, similar to the crisis abroad that could (again, very simplistically) be addressed preventing the violence that so commonly occurs - countless issues in America can be approached in the same way.
What if we promoted safe + respectful relationships and communities from the beginning, rather than waiting to intervene after something has gone horribly wrong?
Could prevention work help countries in Central America and Mexico? Is there a connection in the need for prevention work in the US?
