They make you feel good, happy, loved, who could hate that?!?
But sometimes we're so caught up with BEING in a relationship, we lose sight of how we deserve to be treated.
So here's a quick list of 5 things your BF/GF should NOT be doing.
5 reasons either they need to shape up, or you need to head out:
1. Hurting you in any way.
....well, duh. But we're not just talking physical hurt here - we mean any
kind of hurt. If they make you feel bad or uncomfortable in any way, it's
never a good thing.
2. Asking to check your phone.
Okay, but what if you say yes? Still not a great idea. Relationships are built
on trust and equality - if someone can't trust you to respect the
relationship, no amount of snooping can save you. Plus, it's just rude.
3. Wanting to know where you are .... ALL THE TIME.
It's pretty freakin' adorable when our boo checks in on us. Makes us feel
happy :) But is there ever a point where it's too much? Do we need to
explain ourselves if we don't answer a text right away? If you ever feel you
have to explain yourself to anyone (other than your parents/guardians) -
chances are, they're being possessive.
4. Only wanting you to hang out with them.
We see it all the time. Especially when 2 people first start dating, they tend to spend more time with each other than anyone else in the world. Which is normal - at first. What's not normal is when your BF/GF literally NEVER
wants you to hang out with anyone but them. It's just downright unhealthy.
We always save the best for last. No matter the person, or the relationship
we all get jealous. But there's a difference between healthy jealousy:
- your BF/GF know's you're an awesome person, and
sometimes feels a little jealous when other people want to be
around you all the time (..because you're awesome) -
- your BF/GF is putting restrictions on who you can see,
what you can wear/do, etc. -
Bottom line - jealousy looks good on NO ONE.
Above all, remember: YOU deserve the best! Your BF/GF should be treating you with respect and equality all the time. If not...you're better off without them :)
